WEST HARTFORD, CT—As a maker of lighting, electrical and network infrastructure solutions, Legrand sees an opportunity to raise the bar on what people expect from its spaces and enhance the customer experience. The French manufacturer, with U.S. operations here, has launched a hospitality initiative that it sees as the convergence of technology and beauty.
“Our goal is to provide hospitality decision makers with the light and data solutions they need to operate efficiently and effectively, while impressing their guests with beautiful and cohesive designs,” said Rob Garcia, hospitality global account manager, east, Legrand. “Our offerings can be used across applications—whether in a bar, fitness center, guestroom, lobby or outdoor space—so we hope to become a true resource for those customers.”
Legrand’s client list is a who’s who of the hospitality industry, including major brands like Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Disney, as well as boutique brands like B Hotels & Resorts, Dream Hotels and Quirk Hotel. Design firm partners include DLR Group, Gensler and Design Force Corporation, among others.
For hoteliers and designers seeking to transform a space, Legrand offers products that are aesthetically pleasing, simple and intuitive to use, noted Garcia. “Guest want easy access to power, charging and data. With the average guest stay at 1.5 days, the guest experience has to be seamless,” he said. “Now, outlets, switches and USBs no longer need to be hidden.”
Today, travelers are more connected than ever before. Digital devices of all kinds play integral roles in every facet of the travel experience, from booking a room to ordering transportation to checking in at the hotel. With that in mind, Legrand introduced a few products specifically created to meet the needs of the hyperconnected guest—adorne Furniture Power Center, Legrand Outdoor Ground Box and Legrand Outdoor Charging Stations.
• adorne Furniture Power Centers offers myriad design possibilities for built-in furniture power. It is designed to blend with or provide an accent to furniture goods and space.
• Built with safety in mind, the Legrand Outdoor Ground Box is a UL-Listed, while in use, in-ground box that delivers permanent power. It uses a UL50E Type 6P rated wiring enclosure and has been tested for safe operation year round.
• The Legrand Outdoor Charging Stations enable guests to charge mobile devices in outdoor spaces. Each station includes a combination of standard GFCI power outlets and USB outlets. In addition, some stations incorporate LED lighting for usage at night.
When it comes to hotel room design, properties are working to increase connection points for guests. “Access to power is a common challenge in older properties undergoing renovation as some old or historic hotels often only have two outlets in one guestroom,” said Nancy Snyder, senior manager, hospitality sales, Legrand. “Expanding the availability of power by integrating it into furniture—think headboards, nightstands and desks—has dual benefits of bringing power to the guest where they are using it most frequently and eliminating multiple wires and plugs. We design our products to be easily incorporated without design interruption into guestroom furniture goods or flooring treatments to make access easy without being a visual distraction.”
