NEW YORK—The International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS) will run Sunday, Nov. 9, through Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center here.
Following a full day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, Nov. 8, IHMRS will feature three full days of exhibits. Sponsored by New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, Inc., Hotel Association of New York City, Inc. and the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), and managed by Hospitality Media Group (HMG), the show is expected to attract some 600 exhibitors and roughly 16,000 attendees.
The Hospitality Leadership Forum, which precedes the show on Saturday, Nov. 8, will feature a keynote panel titled “U.S. Lodging Industry Summit” moderated by Ron Vlasic, regional VP, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and past chair of the AH&LA. Panelists will include Vail Brown, VP, global business development & marketing, STR; Warren Marr, managing director, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP; and Peter C. Yesawich, vice chairman, MMGY Global. Topics will include current industry statistics and projections, as well as the implications for the industry. Other panel topics will include revenue management and marketing, the key to a successful project, sustainable trends in hospitality education and measuring carbon footprints.
The show is co-located with BDNY, which will run Sunday, Nov. 9, through Monday, Nov. 10, and is expected to host 500-plus exhibitors and some 5,000 attendees. BDNY will feature two full days of expert panel presentations and interactive workshops.
In addition, the 34th annual Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design Gala will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 pm., at the Mandarin Oriental. Winners and finalists of each of the 19 award categories will be recognized, along with the 2014 Designer of the Year honoree. Gold Key judges are Alan Philips, Morgans Hotel Group; Dana Kalczak, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; Danette Opaczewski, Ian Schrager Co.; John D. McMullen, Highgate Hotels; Lora Spran, Walt Disney Imagineering; R. Tyler Morse, MCR Development; Ron Kollar, Tishman Hotel & Realty LP; Serena Rakhlin, Trump Hotel Collection; and Trisha Wilson, Trisha Wilson Global.
NEWH Inc., the Hospitality Industry Network, will also present its 10th annual icon of industry award to Bob Thomas, Signature Carpet, at the gala, and it will award the NEWH/Cliff Tuttle Scholarship to a student in his name.
