PITTSBURGH, PA—This October, Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh will make its debut as Kimpton’s first hotel in the Steel City and, according to the company, will be downtown Pittsburgh’s first luxury boutique hotel.

Located in the iconic Beaux Arts-style James H. Reed Building, originally built in 1903, the hotel will feature nine stories, 247 guestrooms and more than 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. The hotel’s six event spaces will include the Sheffield and Sofia Ballrooms and meeting rooms named after Pittsburgh notables: Clemente, Salk, Carson and Fahlman.

According to the company, the design will pair the original Beaux Arts architecture and local flavor with modern patterns and textures. The hotel’s color palette will feature yellow, black and white hues, reminiscent of the city’s  professional sports teams and the hues that adorn the city’s flag.

Each guestroom will offer a 39-in., flat-screen televisions, wireless Internet, iHome, in-room spa services, on-demand movies and gourmet honor bar selections, including hometown favorites such as Clark Bars and a selection of Pennsylvania beers. The guestroom bathrooms will feature soft yellow herringbone wallpaper.

Adjacent to the Hotel Monaco at the corner of William Penn Place and Strawberry Way, Kimpton also will open a modern American eatery led by Kimpton kitchen veteran Executive Chef Dennis Marron. The 120-seat eatery will offer wood-fire dishes and a selection of local ales and spirits.

Other amenities will include a 24-hour fitness center, in-room wellness TV programming, signature Kimpton yoga mats in each guestroom and complimentary cruiser bikes, designed in partnership with San Francisco-based PUBLIC Bikes. Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh will be pet-friendly.
