MIAMI—Karisma Hotels & Resorts achieved a milestone growth with the opening of its 26th property, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, a partnership with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), according to the brand. This performance arrives on the heels of Karisma stewarding two additional luxury brands—Sensimar and Sensatori—for TUI Group. Karisma’s collection also includes Allure Hotels, Azul Hotels, El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels, Generations Resorts and Hidden Beach Resort. The company aims to own and operate 30 resorts around the world by 2020.
Karisma’s longstanding partnership with TUI began in 2007 with the first Sensatori property, Azul Sensatori Hotel by Karisma in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Shortly after, Karisma celebrated the opening of Azul Sensatori Jamaica, which marked Azul Hotels’ first property outside of Mexico. This month, along with the opening of Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, Karisma will open the neighboring Sensatori Punta Cana, a hotel built from the ground up with shared amenities.
In December 2015, the brand introduced Sensimar Seaside Suites in conjunction with the opening of nearby El Dorado Seaside Suites in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. A part of the Karisma Hotels Adriatic group, other Sensimar properties located in Europe include Sensimar Makarska, Sensimar Adriatic Beach, Sensimar Kalamota Island Resort.
Additionally, following Karisma’s acquisition of land in Llandovery on the north coast of Saint Ann in Jamaica in 2015, the hotel company is proceeding with preliminary plans to develop 10 hotels representing up to 6,900 rooms over the next decade. Program elements under consideration include a casino, dolphin experience, water sports and nature experience with horse trails. The first phase of this project represents an $800-million investment and will include 4,000 rooms. As part of Llandovery, Karisma plans to bring new international brands to Jamaica in the coming years.
