BOSTON, MA—Boston Park Plaza has appointed hospitality veteran Jonathan Crellin as managing director. In this role, Crellin will draw on nearly 30 years of experience in the luxury hotel industry and assume leadership of the historic property, according to the company.
Located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, the hotel is in the last stages of its $100-million transformation that is scheduled for completion in June. The renovation encompasses all 1,060 guestrooms and suites, as well as all public spaces and 50,000 sq.-ft. of meeting space. Highgate manages Boston Park Plaza.
“Jonathan’s exemplary reputation makes him the ideal leader to take Boston Park Plaza to the next level,” said Steve Barick, COO, Highgate. “With exceptional industry experience, specifically in the Boston market, Jonathan will be an integral part of our team, leading this high-level repositioning effort.”
As managing director of this hotel, Crellin will utilize his sales, marketing and operations management background to play a pivotal role in guest relations, operations and new business development, according to the company. Most recently, Crellin held the roles of managing director and general manager at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and served as managing director of the Boston-based hospitality consulting and asset management firm Whetstone Partners, LLC.
Prior to this, Crellin was with Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, where the property’s AAA Four-Diamond rating was restored for the first time in 15 years, according to the company. In 1996, he was also tapped by Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza, first to serve as the director of sales and marketing and hotel manager, and then promoted to general manager in 2003.
