John Q. Hammons Shows 1Q Profit Gains

SPRINGFIELD, MO— John Q. Hammons Hotels Inc. has reported gains in first-quarter net income and revenue. Net income for the quarter ended April 1 was $7.0 million, or $1.28 a share, up from $4.3 million, or 85 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue increased to $111.4 million from $109.3 million a year ago. According to published reports, the company is still involved in merger discussions with a “Wall Street” firm.
