GDANSK, POLAND—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed the Holiday Inn Gdansk City Centre, which is set to open in 2019. The property will operate under a management agreement with real estate developers UBM Development AG.

Located in the city center of Gdansk, in front of the Gdansk Marina, the 236-roomed property is near the main train station and Gdansk Lech Wałęsa International Airport. The new-build hotel will have free WiFi, conference space, a gym and parking.

Miguel Martins, director development Poland, IHG, commented: “Poland is fast becoming a hub for business and leisure travel due to its economic growth in the last few years. We always look to put the right brands in the areas in which guests want them and we are thrilled to have signed a Holiday Inn brand with our long-standing partners UBM, adding to IHG’s portfolio in the Polish market.”

Martin Löcker, board member, UBM, said, “Situated in the heart of Gdansk, this property will not only be beneficial to leisure travelers but also to business guests who will have easy access to the airport and all the facilities they will need to make the most of their trip.”

There are currently six IHG hotels open in Poland with another six in the pipeline. IHG recently signed 24 hotels in the first half of 2016. Furthermore, there are currently 657 IHG hotels in Europe with 132 more in the pipeline. The Holiday Inn brand has a global pipeline of 911 hotels.
