EL PASO, TX—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the hotel manager and operator of the billion-dollar Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, recently opened the newly retro-fitted 149-room Holiday Inn Express hotel on Fort Bliss here.
This hotel will serve the community of Fort Bliss, which is home to more than 30,000 soldiers and 10,000 civilian employees, the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, and a training area larger than the state of Rhode Island. The hotel is owned by Lend Lease (U.S. Public Partnerships) and managed by IHG.
“IHG Army Hotels consistently deliver excellent guest service, while also improving the quality of on-post lodging for Service Members, their families, government travelers and military retirees,” said Arthur Holst, VP, operations, IHG Army Hotels. “We are proud to welcome this Holiday Inn Express hotel on Fort Bliss that offers the service experience our guests around the world know and trust from this recognizable and respected hotel brand.”
Over the past five years, IHG has brought 77 U.S. Army lodging facilities into the IHG Army Hotels portfolio through three separate phases. For existing Army lodging, IHG is converting and retro-fitting some properties to Holiday Inn Express brand standards. Holiday Inn Express hotels in the IHG Army Hotels portfolio are further customized to meet the specific needs of military guests.
The hotel features a pool, a 24-hour fitness center and a 24-hour business center. There is also meeting space that can accommodate up to 12 people. Newly renovated guestrooms feature contemporary styling, comfortable queen, king-sized or two double beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair and an in-room coffee machine featuring complimentary Smart Roast 100% Arabica coffee.
The complimentary Express Start breakfast bar offers a full range of breakfast items and now also features healthy breakfast items, including Chobani yogurt, whole wheat English muffins, Kellogg’s breakfast cereals, new Quaker oatmeal flavors in cups and a toppings bar for yogurt, cereal and pancakes. Additionally, the breakfast bar continues to offer a wide variety of options including a rotation of egg and meat selections, biscuits, fruit, the brand’s proprietary cinnamon roll and Smart Roast coffee.
