Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa Completes $100M Guestroom Reno

HONOLULU—Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa has completed a $100-million redesign of its 1,230 guestrooms.

Dallas-based design firm Looney Associates helmed the redesign, which began in June 2014.

The new look is a contrast to the property’s previous earthen palate and traditional elements. The rooms now feature shades of blue that evoke the sea and sky, with clean modern lines that draw subtle influence from Hawaiian culture. Long, thin desks with surfboard-shaped ends and Koa wood clocks provide a sense of place, and views of the ocean and Waikiki Beach bring the outside in, according to the hotel.

The size of the guestrooms allow for 55-in. televisions and the option of one king or two queen Hyatt Grand Beds in each room. Each room also offers a number of new amenities, including increased storage, hanging hooks, outlet pods and dimmer-equipped light fixtures. A spa-like bathroom experience rounds out the renovation, with features including bidet-style Washlet toilets, new showerheads, and an expansive wet area.

The renovation came on the heels of a number of other property improvements over the past five years, including a 2009 suite renovation; the 2011 $13-million renovation to the resort’s dining outlets, Jacuzzi, Regency Club and lounge areas; and a recent expansion of the resort’s Na Lea Terrace.
