LAS VEGAS— At Howard Johnson International’s brand conference here today, the hotel chain announced to its franchisees that it will soon roll out free training resources as well as high-speed Internet service and enhanced bathroom amenities for its hotels. The training programs will be introduced in cooperation with the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. The programs will be introduced through CyberCinema and CourseLine and will be free to Howard Johnson franchisees for the first year. Meanwhile, all Howard Johnson hotels will be required to provide free high-speed Internet service, in wired or wireless form, in all guestrooms by March 2006. They will also be required to introduce wireless HSIA in their lobbies, breakfast areas and meeting rooms by that same deadline. Regarding the new bathroom amenity package, it will be effective as of Dec. 31 and will include citrus-scented soap and shampoo products.
