NATIONAL REPORT—With rebrands and historic preservations in California and boutique openings in Portland, OR, hotel markets are seeing some action. Here’s more on some of the openings out West:

Rebranded Hotel Opens Near Disneyland

Formerly the Residence Inn Anaheim Maingate, the newly branded Clementine Hotel & Suites Anaheim is a 200-suite hotel located close to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. Holiday Garden Hotels owns the property.

in the Anaheim market, Clementine Hotel & Suites will continue to strengthen its position behind U.S.-based global hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts and a staff led by GM Beckley Van Cleave.

In addition to a new name and color palette, Clementine’s condominium-inspired suites offer full kitchens, a community layout and living areas. There is also a grocery shopping service that delivers items to guest’s full in-room kitchen and has an on-site Disney desk representative.

Boutique Hotel Preserves History

Joie de Vivre Hotels will debut El Capitan, a new, 114-room boutique hotel in downtown Merced, CA, opening in late 2019. Located in Northern California’s San Joaquin Valley, El Capitan will be housed in the former 19th century historic hotel of the same name.

El Capitan is being reimagined by San Francisco-based interior design studio Nicole Hollis. The four-story hotel will have both a historically preserved wing and a newly constructed extension, with a courtyard. There will be 114 guestrooms, including three one-bedroom suites and nine junior suites, with corner rooms.

El Capitan will have an all-day café and a restaurant, coffee shop and wine bar. In addition, there will be three dedicated meeting and event spaces, including a large ballroom, totaling more than 2,000 sq. ft., as well as a 2,500-sq.-ft. outdoor courtyard.

California Hotel Opens Between Cities

The Kinney SLO has raised its flag in San Luis Obispo in Central California. Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, The Kinney SLO is the second location in a growing brand of personality plus boutique hotels from Pacifica Hotels.

The Kinney has 100 newly designed guestrooms and suites, and meeting and event space. The library is a multifunctional space with 1,200 flexible sq. ft. and the indoor/outdoor gallery accommodates up to 60 in 835 sq. ft. The Kinney SLO also has a restaurant and bar, heated pool and sundeck.

Portland, OR Property Unites Two Buildings

Woodlark, a member of the Provenance Hotels, is set to open this December. The  boutique property is located in downtown Portland, OR.

The opening will unite two buildings—the historic Cornelius Hotel and the Woodlark Building, a former retail and office building built in 1912. With their merging, these buildings will become home to a 150-room hotel. The hotel will have a 24-hour fitness center, a restaurant and bar, coffee shop and 2,160 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Hoxton Brand Expands with Portland, OR Opening

The Hoxton, Portland is now open. This marks the second U.S. outpost of The Hoxton brand, which is based in London, and has a rapid North American expansion plan with two further U.S. openings by spring 2019 including The Hoxton, Chicago and The Hoxton, Downtown LA.
