NEWPORT BEACH, CA—Island Hotel Newport Beach appointed Lindsey Strutzenberg director of group sales for the luxury hotel.
Strutzenberg, who brings 10 years’ of experience in hospitality sales management to Island Hotel Newport Beach, will be responsible for all aspects of the hotel’s group sales efforts, including the development of new business and collaboration with local tourism organizations.
Strutzenberg will focus on building new business relationships in the region and collaboration with Visit Newport Beach in attracting larger group events to the area and Island Hotel.
Late last year, Island Hotel benefited from a major reinvestment in the property’s public meeting spaces. The 2012 reinvestment included increasing the combined ballroom and ballroom foyer to 21,000 sq. ft., as well as an expansion and enhancement of the Cabana Room into an indoor/outdoor area featuring a covered and heated outdoor terrace for business meetings, private dinners, weddings and wedding receptions. Last year’s renovation also included transitioning the hotel’s former gift shop into the 750-sq.-ft. Balboa Room, which is now used for corporate meetings and weddings.
Prior to joining the sales and marketing team at Island Hotel, Strutzenberg held the positions of director of sales, destination sales executive, and business development sales manager for the Marriott hotel brand in the Newport Beach area.
