NATIONAL REPORT—Here’s a look at some of the many hotel projects under development in the U.S., set to open in 2018 and beyond:
White Lodging, REI Real Estate Services, Poe Companies Plan Dual-Brand
Two new hotels will open in 2019 in the historic and revitalized Whiskey Row neighborhood of downtown Louisville, KY, as part of a new development. Located on Main St., the development will feature two Marriott International-branded properties—Hotel Distil, a boutique hotel that will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection Hotels, and a Moxy hotel.
The project, developed by White Lodging, Poe Companies and REI Real Estate Services, is also due to contain multiple bars and restaurants. The hotels will be managed by White Lodging.
Hotel Distil, an independent hotel affiliated with Autograph Collection Hotels, will tap into the street’s rich bourbon history. The 205-room property will offer more than 7,500 sq. ft. of meeting space, a new restaurant concept and rooftop bar with direct access to the street. The Moxy hotel will feature a street-level restaurant and bar along with an additional rooftop terrace and event space.
Moxy Louisville will offer 110 bedrooms with plush platform beds, peg walls instead of closets for flexibility, motion sensor lighting, 49-in. LED TVs, abundant power and USB outlets, and fast and free WiFi.
Sharpe Contractors Tapped for Two Hotels
Sharpe Contractors has been chosen to build the new Tru by Hilton in the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceville, GA. The four-story, 42,808-sq.-ft., 97-key property will break ground in December. Construction is scheduled to take 12 months. Architectural design was completed by Kennesaw, GA-based R Design Works.
Sharpe Contractors has also been selected by Duluth Capital Investments to design and build the new Staybridge Suites in Duluth, GA. The 74,849-sq.-ft., five-story property will offer 118 guest suites, meeting space, fitness center and pool. For this project, R Design Works will handle architectural design, and Foresite Group will oversee civil engineering. In the design stages, a groundbreaking is expected in spring 2018, with construction scheduled to take 12 months.
Circ Hotel Set to Open in Downtown Hollywood, FL
Circ Hotel, a 111-room boutique hotel, is set to open in early 2018 on Young Circle in downtown Hollywood, FL. Located at the landmark $200-million mixed-use Hollywood Circle development, Circ Hotel has begun taking reservations for stays starting in winter/spring 2018.
Designed with a contemporary flair and inspired by the area’s burgeoning arts scene, the 12-story Circ Hotel will offer Olivia Restaurant & Bar, an authentic Italian restaurant by Piero Filpi and Marcello Sindoni; The Muse Rooftop Bar & Lounge on the hotel pool deck; Presto Market & Coffee Bar; a fitness center; and 3,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space.
