EAST SETAUKET, NY— ICD Publications, publisher of HOMEWORLD BUSINESS®, HOTEL BUSINESS® and HOTEL JOURNAL® magazines, today announced the creation of a conferences and special events business segment. ICD appointed trade show and publishing veteran Rob Cappiello to direct this new effort as vp/conferences and special events. Cappiello joins ICD from Reed Exhibitions, a leading trade show and conference organizer with more than 460 events in 34 countries, including the National Hardware Show to be held next week in Orlando, FL. ICD for several years has organized annual roundtables on the hospitality side. Ian Gittlitz, president and CEO of ICD, said the company will elevate and expand that effort to include high-level industry conferences in the hospitality and housewares segments. “We have also been asked by members of the housewares industry to become involved on the conference side for some time,” Gittlitz said. “With this effort, we will offer summits at the highest level in both the housewares and hospitality industries.” On the housewares side of the ICD business, Cappiello reports directly to Gittlitz. Within the hospitality conference and special event segment, Cappiello reports to Stacy Silver, group publisher, Hospitality Group. Cappiello the past four years was industry vp of the National Hardware Show. He guided the show’s move to spring dates and its subsequent resurgence. He also directed the launch of the new Homewares Show, a housewares division of the National Hardware Show that debuts next week in Orlando. Before joining Reed, Cappiello spent nine years with trade magazine publisher Lebhar-Friedman, including four years as publisher of Home Channel News. “HomeWorld Business, Hotel Business and Hotel Journal are very healthy publications that excel at offering solutions to marketing issues and creating new opportunities for companies in these important markets,” Cappiello said. “This is a great opportunity to create more special events in these markets that bring together high-level executives.”
