NATIONAL REPORT—Over time, hotels need to renew, revitalize and sometimes expand their offerings to cater to today’s modern traveler. Here’s a look at newly revamped properties in the U.S.:

Courtyard Fort Meade BWI Business District

In Annapolis Junction, MD, the Courtyard Fort Meade BWI Business District now offers an upgraded stay thanks to a $250,000 renovation.

Step into a renewed lobby space, refreshed restaurant, updated fitness center and reimagined meeting rooms. Upon arrival, the hotel near Fort Meade offers guests a contemporary style and increased functionality. There are media pods, semi-private, well-lit areas complete with mini workstations, personal TVs and seating.

Guestrooms and suites provide new beds and complimentary WiFi. There’s also a fitness center and indoor pool in the building.

The Bistro offers a wide selection of American cuisine, Starbucks beverages and evening cocktails, along with new tables, chairs, light fixtures and decor.

Hilton Boston/Woburn

Hilton Boston/Woburn has completed a comprehensive $16-million renovation spearheaded by a joint venture between The Davis Companies and The Rubicon Companies in Woburn, MA.

The opening of Matadora, the hotel’s Spanish tapas restaurant, marks the culmination of the property’s top-to-bottom renovation, which drew inspiration from the area’s historic shoe and leather-making industries. A modern tapas restaurant, it was created in partnership with COJE Management, the team behind Boston’s social dining spots Yvonne’s, Ruka and Lolita.

The hotel has been tailored for the modern traveler while articulating Woburn’s legacy of craftsmanship throughout the transformed lobby, guestrooms, event and meeting spaces.

JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa has opened two modern, reimagined event spaces—the Palms Executive Conference Center and Cascade. Located in the resort’s Palms Tower, the Palms Executive Conference Center has more than 15,000 sq. ft. of flexible indoor, outdoor and pre-function space with natural light.

The Parian Room accommodates 50-200 guests, while the conference center’s nine breakout rooms can house 10 to 100 guests. Audiovisual services include webcasting, mobile apps, internet, ClickShare technology and digital lecterns.

Neighboring event venue Cascade, located just off the casino floor, offers more than 10,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space with an open floor plan. The pre-function space offers an expansive patio area surrounded by greenery and waterfalls. The new space is designed to be eco-friendly, with hydration stations to limit the use of plastic bottles, electronic signage, linen-less tables, recycled notepads and paperless communication options.
