Hotel Brands Make Debuts Abroad

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hotel brands are expanding with openings in cities abroad. From the Middle East to Europe to South America, here’s the recent news on brand firsts:

Sbe to Open First SLS in the Middle East
Sbe has partnered with World of Wonders Real Estate Development to continue the expansion of the SLS brand with the first SLS property in the Middle East, SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences. The 75-story property is set to open in Q3 2020. It will have 254 hotel rooms, 371 residential units and 321 hotel apartments. The property will also have Sbe signature culinary concepts Fi’lia and Carna, sbe’s mixology lounge in the lobby, as well as signature rooftop nightlife venue, Privilege.

The SLS brand is an integral part of Sbe’s global expansion, with plans for 25 additional locations nationally and internationally in cities including Washington, DC; Buenos Aires; and Cancun, Mexico. SLS Dubai comes on the heels of the openings of Katsuya in Kuwait City, Dubai and, most recently, Abu Dhabi. Sbe subsidiary Dakota Development provided original concept development and design management services for the luxury project in collaboration with international architecture firm Aedas and interior design firm Bishop Design.

Hyatt Place in the Works in Krakow, Poland
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with 3M Hotels Group for the first Hyatt hotel in Krakow, marking the return of the Hyatt brand to Poland. Hyatt Place Krakow will have 216 guestrooms and will be managed by Hotel Professionals Management Group. The hotel is expected to open in 2021. It will be located in an upscale neighborhood west of the city center, close to the National Museum. Hyatt Place Krakow will have meeting spaces, food and beverage outlets, a workout area and sauna and lobby bar.

Holiday Inn Express Debuts in Paraguay
IHG has opened the 116-room Holiday Inn Express Asunción Aviadores hotel located in the business and commercial district of Paraguay’s capital city. The property will be the first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Paraguay and the second IHG brand in the country, joining the Crowne Plaza Asunción. Located in the Carmelitas neighborhood, the Holiday Inn Express Asunción Aviadores hotel is close to the Silvio Petirossi International Airport, as well as close to many of Asunción’s shopping centers, restaurants and bars.

Nobu Hotel Los Cabos Opens its Doors
Nobu Hotel Los Cabos in now open with 200 guestrooms and suites. The first Nobu Hotel in Mexico, perched beachfront on the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, houses meetings and event spaces, a spa with Natura Bissé products and Nobu Restaurant and Bar. Nobu Hotels is expanding, looking at opening 20 hotels globally by 2020.
