NEW HAVEN, CT— Hospitality 3, a hotel developer, has purchased the 86-room Colony Inn here. The hotel is specifically located on the campus of Yale University. Hospitality 3 has now temporarily closed the 46-year-old hotel in order to renovate and expand the property. The project will transform the hotel into a 126-room upscale boutique property. The hotel is expected to reopen in the fall of 2007 with a new name and identity as well. By that time the asset will also feature two additional floors, a redesigned exterior façade and restyled amenities on its first floor. Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects will be the project architect and the interior designer. Project plans also call for the deployment of state-of-the-art technology and amenities in the hotel’s rooms and suites and the creation of a new full-service restaurant. Hospitality 3 believes that the renovated hotel will fill a market need for upscale lodging.
