ATLANTA—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of a new 88-room Holiday Inn Express in Downtown Baton Rouge, LA.
Located in the North Boulevard Town Square area, this historic building opened in 1955 as the Baton Rouge Savings and Loan Association Building and was once home to East Baton Rouge Arts and Technology School. The building has received its historic status in 2014 from the U.S. Department of the Interior – National Park Service.
“This building merits historic status because it’s one of the few examples left of early low-rise international style in Louisiana,” said Franciso Alecha of New Orleans-based Alecha Architecture. “The hotel is the downtown’s first Holiday Inn Express location.”
This hotel offers different experiences in each room with the various historical features, which remain as part of the National Park Service standards. Located next to the City of Baton Rouge courthouse complex and across from City Offices, the Old Governor’s Mansion and just a short walk from the River Center, the hotel is convenient to all downtown events and businesses.
The Holiday Inn Express hotel- Baton Rouge Downtown is owned by SHMT, LLC and managed by Pride Management, Inc. Pinu Patel, managing member, is also an investor in the Candlewood Suites in Denham Springs, LA, as well as the Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express in Lake Charles, LA, which both will be opening in late 2016.
Pride Management, Inc., based in Beaumont, TX, has numerous other IHG-branded hotels that it owns and manages throughout Texas and Louisiana.
Jennifer Gribble, VP, Holiday Inn Express brand, The Americas, IHG, said, “Holiday Inn Express hotels offer guests a great night’s rest while helping them be productive on the go, and this hotel is the smart choice for people traveling to Downtown Baton Rouge.
