WASHINGTON, DC HOTELBUSINESS. has learned that Historic Hotels of America plans to develop a self-assessment program to help to determine the level of service provided at each of its 167 hotels. It will also categorize these hotels with others of equal caliber.
It s not a ranking system, said Thierry G. Roch, executive director of Historic Hotels of America. It s to help us develop standards through self-assessment.
The new system, which is still in conceptual stages, will group the historic hotels together depending on the quality of the service they provide. According to a spokesperson from Historic Hotels, the group is approximately a year from finalizing the specifics of the system.
In addition, Historic Hotels of America, which is a marketing association within the National Trust of Historic Preservation, recently announced the addition of 23 new members to its program, a 15% increase over last year. To qualify, hotels must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance. (10/2/00) -Diana M.
