Historic Hotel Opens In Oregon

ASHLAND, OR After a much-anticipated restoration, the historic Ashland Springs Hotel will open December 1, 2000. Originally built as the Lithia Hotel in 1925 (most recent travelers will remember it as the Mark Antony) the Ashland Springs Hotel was purchased by Doug and Becky Neuman in 1998 with the intent of restoring the structure to its original grandeur. Candra Scott and Richard Anderson of Candra Scott and Associates, who specialize in historic restorations, recreated the interiors of the hotel and WestCoast Hospitality was hired to manage it. The restored lobby features the original terrazzo floor, a massive fireplace, and axminster area rugs inspired by an exotic 1930s design. (11/30/00)
