SAN FRANCISCO—Hilton San Francisco Union Square has completed a $25-million renovation project featuring upgraded accommodations, meeting spaces, culinary outlets and common areas. Most recently, the property finalized a $6-million transformation of its 30,000-sq.-ft. lobby. The latest enhancements to the property, the largest hotel in the Bay Area, include an overhaul of its Lobby Bar and culinary marketplace, Herb N’ Kitchen, featuring design inspired by San Francisco’s eclectic characteristics, according to the company.

“San Francisco is a timeless city where engineering, craftsmanship and arts have merged harmoniously; therefore, we focused on creating an arrival experience that reflects the atmosphere and personality of the destination as well as the surrounding area,” said Michael Dunne, area VP, Southwest, Hilton Worldwide. “The new design elements create dynamic energy and functionality that serves as a welcoming meeting hub by day and lounge area by evening.”

According to the company, the hotel’s new look was inspired by the city’s detailed steel structures, famed San Francisco bridges and turn-of-the-century design. The lobby’s customized energy-efficient light fixture, steel incorporations and accent wall behind the front desk reflect its distinct history and culture.

The new Lobby Bar acts as the town square of the hotel, while Herb N’ Kitchen, the grab-and-go marketplace, features fresh, seasonal fare using locally sourced ingredients. It offers three set meals, a full-service coffee bar and option for in-room delivery.

“We wanted to provide our city and travelers with a quintessential hotel experience. The newly exposed renovations provide our guests with a unique relaxed approach to the design with innovative flourishes including multiple power outlets, lounge opportunities for networking and remote working with abundant workspaces,” said Steve Cowan, general manager, Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square features a fully equipped, modern fitness center; an outdoor, heated swimming pool and Whirlpool; and 134,500 sq. ft. of meeting and special event space, including 73 meeting rooms and a 30,000-sq.-ft. Grand Ballroom.
