MCLEAN, VA—The dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Downtown/Bayside and Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Downtown/Bayside has opened, bringing a total of 364 new rooms to the heart of downtown San Diego.

The opening further establishes Hilton Worldwide’s presence in California and serves as an example of the brand’s expansion into urban areas.

“San Diego brings in more than 34 million visitors each year, and with the large number of business and leisure travelers, it’s beneficial to offer a variety of options,” said John Greenleaf, global head, Hilton Garden Inn. “As a dual-brand property, this new hotel in San Diego will not only meet the demands of this booming tourism market, but provide diverse accommodations for visitors with varying needs.”

The new Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Downtown/Bayside complements the city’s diverse culture and local attractions, according to the company.

Both properties are located at 2137 Pacific Highway, between Little Italy and San Diego Bay and near the San Diego Cruise Terminals, Seaport Village, Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego Convention Center and San Diego Zoo.

The dual-brand concept creates enhanced and larger communal areas than what would be standard at a stand-alone property, with one distinct lobby, two outdoor courtyards, a restaurant, fitness center and rooftop pool. There is also 4,500 sq. ft. of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space that can accommodate up to 300 people. Amenities include a 24-hour Pantry Market, valet parking, laundry service and business center.

Hilton Garden Inn has partnered with Los Angeles-based restaurant consultants, New School Consulting, to offer guests an elevated on-property dining experience at Pacific Standard Coastal Kitchen, according to the company. The neighborhood restaurant concept will serve coastal-inspired fare along with a selection of craft cocktails, local beers and West Coast wines

Other amenities and services include complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel and a 24-hour business center with Print Spots remote printing. Each Hilton Garden Inn guestroom features one king or two queen beds as well as an in-room “hospitality center” with a mini fridge, microwave oven and Keurig coffeemaker.

Homewood Suites by Hilton offers a combination of studio and one-bedroom accommodations, with fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas. There is complimentary WiFi, daily hot breakfast and an evening social Monday-Thursday in The Lodge, as well as a grocery shopping service.
