HB ON THE SCENE: Sealy, Inc. Shows High-End Line For Luxury Market

NEW YORK— At the 90th International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show here at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Sealy Inc. is introducing a new line from Stearns & Foster to appeal to the luxury end of hospitality sleep systems. According to Leo Vogel, director of contract sales and marketing, the line is all foam-encased, with four basic models. “Then we went with a specialty collection, a Visco product called True Form and a latex product called Spring Free, which we manufacture at our facilities in Europe. We also have a high-end product that’s the Estate Plush Euro Pillowtop; that has some of the Visco and latex in it. We wanted to introduce a much higher-end product to the market because everybody’s continuing to move up,” said Vogel. The Estate product features a Comfort Bridge, which consists of layers between the innerspring and upholstery comfort layers that provide a transition between support and comfort, according to the company. Other key components include foam-encased edge and base, a 12.25-gauge steel innerspring system, and an UltraSteel box spring that utilizes 20% more steel and amplifies perimeter firmness that helps deflect weight from the mattress. Vogel noted a lot of Europeans have been through the show, due to, he believes, the favorable currency exchange rate for them. “We’re starting to see a lot of the European hoteliers come through,” he noted, with traffic also from South America and strong domestic interest. “All the major companies always bring people here,” he added.
