NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel Business is tracking executive appointments this week, including moves at Hard Rock, IHG and ERevMax. Here’s a look:
Hard Rock Appoints Ed Tracy CEO of Asia
Hard Rock International has promoted Edward Tracy to CEO, Asia. Currently, he is focused on Hard Rock Japan LLC in its efforts to develop a signature Hard Rock Integrated Resort. His recent appointment is a strategic move designed to support the company’s growth plans in the region.
Tracy joined Sands China Ltd, a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp., in July 2010 as its president and COO, becoming the company CEO in July 2011. Prior to Sands, he served as president and CEO of Capital Gaming. He also served as president and CEO of the Trump Organization.
Trump Hotels Names VP of Acquisitions & Development
Trump Hotel Group has named Mike Cowell as VP of acquisitions and development. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Cowell will be responsible for expanding the Trump Hotel Group portfolio, which includes the Trump Hotels, American Idea Hotels and Scion Hotels and Resorts brands.
“I have worked with Mike for many years and am happy to see him join us here at Trump Hotel Group,” said Eric Danziger, CEO of Trump Hotels. “With his extensive hotel development experience and his expertise in franchising, I am confident he will help us continue to expand our portfolio, especially our newest American Idea and Scion brands.”
Cowell joins Trump Hotel Group from Dream Hotel Group, where he served since 2014 as VP of business development responsible for expanding the company’s portfolio through brand management contracts, asset management and third-party operator agreements.
IHG Group PLC Board Appoints New Executive Director
IHG has appointed Elie Maalouf, IHG’s CEO for the Americas, as executive director; he will join the IHG board on Jan. 1, 2018. He has been a member of IHG’s executive committee since joining the company in February 2015.
His experience includes nearly 15 years at major global franchise and travel business, HMSHost Corporation, where he held roles as president and CEO and was a member of the board of directors. Before HMSHost, Maalouf spent eight years with Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company, and prior to that, he was senior advisor with McKinsey & Company.
ERevMax Expands Management Team to Cater to Growing Demand
ERevMax has appointed Gerard Carrie as COO for LiveOS. He will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to sustain continuing growth of the company’s hospitality operating platform, LiveOS.
He brings to LiveOS more than 15 years of relevant industry experience in sales and product management portfolios. In his most recent role, he was VP for Tourico Holidays overseeing its sales operations in the EMEA region. He has a prior association with eRevMax, managing the sales function in the United States for roughly four years.
