INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hard Rock and Hyatt Place expand abroad, plus a tropical family style resort is in the works. Here’s more on the projects overseas:
Hard Rock Underway in Madrid
Hard Rock International expands its hotel portfolio with the opening of Hard Rock Hotel Madrid in 2019. Working in collaboration with European real estate specialists, ActivumSG Capital Management Ltd. (ASG) Hard Rock will bring its signature vibe to the city with the development of the new 159-room music-centric hotel.
The hotel will be situated near the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Museo Nacional Del Prado. Regionally inspired food and beverage offerings will be available on-site, as well as a Constant Grind coffee bar and the brand’s signature restaurant, Sessions, along with a rooftop bar.
Hyatt Place Properties to Expand in France and England
Hyatt Place Rouen
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with a subsidiary of Matmut S.A.M. to develop the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Rouen, the capital of Normandy, France. Managed by Cycas Hospitality, Hyatt Place Rouen will be the second Hyatt Place hotel in France and will join the dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport that are currently under development.
Slated to open in 2021, Hyatt Place Rouen will have 78 guestrooms, meeting spaces for approximately 100 guests, a gym and a swimming pool. Hyatt Place Rouen will also have a restaurant and the Gallery Market with grab and go meals and snacks. The hotel will be developed from a former school building, located close to businesses, the railway station and the old city center.
Hyatt Place London City/East
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Resolution Property, which has teamed up with specialist real estate firm Berkeley Capital Group, to develop a Hyatt Place hotel at Black Lion House. Hyatt Place London City/East will be a 280-room hotel managed by Cycas Hospitality and will mark the fourth collaboration with Cycas Hospitality on select service Hyatt hotels in Europe.
Slated to open in 2020, Hyatt Place London City/East will be the third Hyatt Place hotel in Greater London, joining Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport and Hyatt Place West London/Hayes. It will have a lounge and terrace, a flexible meeting room concept, further lobby area, inner courtyard, gym and a grab-and-go food market.
Family Centric Resort to Open in Maldives
Onyx Hospitality Group has signed an agreement with a joint venture company led by Panchshil Realty to launch Ozo Maldives. Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2020, the 200-villa private island resort will occupy a secluded island in the Raa Atoll, located northwest of the Maldivian capital of Male.
Family oriented, the resort will have an activity center, kid’s club and arts and crafts center. The resort will also have Maai Spa, a gym and yoga facility, dive center and a swimming pool.
