MCLEAN, VA– Hilton Worldwide’s Hampton by Hilton brand has signed its newest property, Hampton Inn by Hilton Antofagasta, Chile. It is the first Hampton property signed as part of a strategic alliance with Colombia-based Metro Hotels. The hotel will be comprised of 14 stories and 144 guestrooms with views of the city.

“Antofagasta is a city that’s booming right now in terms of commercial and retail development as well as economic growth,” said Eduardo Rodriguez Suarez, managing director development, Brazil and the Southern Cone Region, Hilton Worldwide. “We plan on targeting the many business travelers flocking to the area with the Hampton by Hilton brand, which is known for its affordable and consistent amenities, as well as its thoughtful and efficient service.”

In June 2014, Hampton by Hilton and Metro Hotels signed an agreement to open four Hampton by Hilton hotels in Chile by 2022, making it the biggest development for the brand in the region in recent years.

“We’re excited for this milestone hotel signing in Chile, especially for future business travelers that we know are looking for a solid hotel brand in the area,” said Felipe Galeano, CEO, Metro Hotels. “The partnership between METRO and Hampton by Hilton is a strong one, and we hope for it to carry us through to additional properties in the region of Latin America.”

Hampton Inn by Hilton Antofagasta, Chile will be located in Northern Chile and be part of a mixed-use development that will consist of a shopping center, offices, parking and residences. The property is expected to break ground in July.

“Metro is the perfect partner to have on board to help Hampton by Hilton bolster its presence in not only Chile, but Peru and Colombia as well, and continue the momentum that was established with the original deal in 2014,” said Phil Cordell, global head, focused service and Hampton brand management, Hilton Worldwide.
