MADISON, WI— Great Wolf Resorts, which operates six water park-based resorts in the U.S., plans to open its first properties in Canada in mid-2006 and the Southwest in 2007. The resorts, which will be located in Niagra Falls, Ontario, and Grapevine, TX, respectively, will follow the same model that has proven successful in the existing properties–a combination of extensive indoor water park facilities and upscale lodging facility. The focus is clearly on families with many of the lodge-themed hotel guest rooms featuring bunk beds. The chains next U.S. property, meanwhile, opens later this month in the Pocono Mountains, PA. The resort features a 90,000-square foot water park and 401-suite hotel.
