Greece Gets First Grand Hyatt Property
Grand Hyatt Athens has opened, marking the first Hyatt hotel in the Greek capital and the first Grand Hyatt branded hotel in Greece. The property is located on Syngrou Ave. next to the Onassis Cultural Center and proximate to Plaka and the Acropolis site.
The 309-room hotel incorporates curated art alongside original pieces from the Museum of Cycladic Art. The property’s rooftop has the Penthouse Restaurant and an outdoor swimming pool and views of the Acropolis.
The hotel will be managed by Kokari Limited and has been developed by Henderson Park and Hines. It will be the second Hyatt property in Greece, joining Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki.
Boutique Hotel Comes to Stokholm
Bank Hotel, a signature hotel from Stockholm’s hospitality group, Stureplansgruppen, is set to open its doors on Aug. 22. The boutique hotel on Nybroviken Quay is in the capital’s shopping, culture and entertainment district. The hotel has 115 guestrooms with terraces, as well as a collection of restaurants and bars.
Antigua Resort to Open with Residences, Amenities
Appointed by resort development company Replay Destinations, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will manage a Caribbean project, Half Moon Bay Antigua, a 132-acre oceanfront resort set to open in 2021.
Rosewood Half Moon Bay will accommodate guests in 47 pavilion-style suites which include a three-bedroom presidential suite. The resort will also have a residential component comprised of branded oceanfront and oceanview residences and 10 estate home parcels. Amenities will include beachfront pools, tennis courts, Sense, A Rosewood Spa and a biodynamic farm all on 8,000 ft. of oceanfront property.
First Nikko Style Hotel to Open in Japan
Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Hotel Okura Co. Ltd., has entered a contract with Meieki Management LLC to manage Nikko Style Nagoya in Nagoya, Japan. This is the first hotel under the new upscale, select-service Nikko Style brand, which will open in 2020.
Nikko Style Nagoya will be located in Nagoya’s Meieki district, which combines offices, retail outlets and other downtown conveniences, including Nagoya Station. Nikko Style Nagoya will have 191 rooms, a communal lobby, all-day dining and a fitness gym.
Osaka Hotel Has Room Types for All Stays
TPacifica Capital K.K. and PAG Real Estate have opened Oakwood Hotel & Serviced Apartments Shin-Osaka in Osaka, Japan. The 185 room property has modern rooms with kitchenettes for short or long-term stays as well as more traditional hotel-type rooms.
Scotland to Get its Second Yotel
Yotel is set to open its second hotel in Scotland and fifth in the U.K. The new hotel in Glasgow’s city center will open in November 2019 and bring the brand’s key count in the U.K. to 823 as part of its European expansion strategy.
The 256-room hotel will have Yotel’s unique design and technology-driven offerings such as SmartBed and smart TVs. The hotel will also have Glasgow’s first destination rooftop bar complete with a bowling alley.
