GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS—Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, located on the Caribbean island’s Seven Mile Beach, recently completed a renovation totaling more than $16 million.

In phase two of the renovation, all public areas of the Grand Cayman resort have undergone a major transformation, including the lobby, restaurants, ballroom, meeting rooms and fitness center.

The ground floor arrival, lobby, bar and dining spaces were designed by EDG Interior Architecture + Design. The inspiration for the new design embraces a ship-to-shore concept that embodies the themes of the spirit of openness, sense of adventure, craftsmanship and the island’s strong connection with the sea, according to the resort. The resort’s guestrooms were overhauled last year with phase one of the renovation.

The choice of the furnishings’ color palette reinforces the use of natural light. There is an emphasis on neutral and light colors such as white, beige and tones of gray. Different shades of blue have been incorporated to remind guests of the sea.

Different textures such as polished wood, leather and weaved fabrics for the furniture creates fun, modern but comfortable seating arrangements for guests, according to the resort. Wood is featured heavily within the fixtures.

Central to the renovation is also the rebranding of the lobby, restaurant and bar into Anchor & Den. Alfresco dining is offered at the newly revamped oceanfront restaurant and bar. Renamed Veranda and Vista Bar, the space features vintage-inspired decor.

As part of the resort’s services, amenities include free Linus bike rentals and complimentary snorkeling gear, which guests can use to explore the Artificial Reef Project, a short swim from the hotel’s beachfront.
