CHICAGO— Gildas Club Chicago is celebrating the Extreme Makeover of five group rooms by volunteer design teams from the Chcago area with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 5. The redesign project showcases the transformation of the group rooms at Gildas Club wth new wall coverings, carpeting, lighting, furniture and accessories. The Makeover created comfortable and thoughtful space in rooms used for member meetings and other support activities for men, women, and children whose lives have been touched by cancer. The project was a collaboration among NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network; Designs for Dignity; and five teams led by local design firms Susan Fredman & Assoc., the “I” Team, Gettys, Gensler and Goettsch Partners. The design teams donated more than $150,000 of their time, talent and materials to create the new setting. The first meeting was held in late February and the teams worked through last weekend to complete the changes.
