WESTBURY, NY—Courtyard by Marriott has broken ground on the building of a new property located here, according to a report in Newsday, becoming the company’s first hotel on Long Island.

Westbury developer Piermont Properties and Franklin, TN-based hospitality management company Chartwell Hospitality will jointly own the $27.6-million project. Chartwell will also manage the property.

The 145-room Courtyard by Marriott Westbury, located at Merrick Avenue and Privado Road in Westbury, is expected to be completed in September 2015.
