CAIRO— Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will manage a new hotel in Cairo that is slated to open this summer. The Fairmont Heliopolis, Cairo will have 235 guestrooms, conference facilities, a spa, an atrium garden and dining outlets. Fairmont has also assumed management of an adjacent hotel, which was previously known as the Sheraton Heliopolis. This 588-room property will be operated by Fairmont under the name Hotel Heliopolis prior to an extensive renovation. The refurbishment will include rooms, public areas and the building’s façade. Another phase, to be completed at a later date, will consist of branded residences. Project partners include Gulf-Egypt for Hotels & Tourism; United Real Estate Co.; and Kuwait Projects Co. The Fairmont Heliopolis will be the company’s second flag in the city, joining Fairmont Nile City, currently under construction and set to open early 2008.
