Ethiopia’s Oldest Hotel Now Art Center

ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA Ethiopias oldest hotel, built in 1907 by Taitu, wife of Emperor Menelik II, to house official guests visiting Ethiopias new capital Addis Ababa, was purchased at a state auction for $425,000. The new owners Fitsum Zeab Asgedom, an Ethiopian entrepreneur with roots in the printing business, and Bertrand Lefort, a Frenchman with a degree in fine arts turned the historic hotel into the Taitu International Art Center.
