WASHINGTON, DC—The Embassy Suites at the Chevy Chase Pavilion, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, will undergo a $10.5 million renovation.
Construction is set to begin on July 13. The renovation will include a structural conversion throughout the 170,000-sq.-ft., 198 two-room suite property. There will be a newly designed open entrance, a larger lobby, expanded restaurant and bar, upgraded suites, refreshed health club and enlarged public areas. The renovation will be unveiled on October 20, 2014.
The renovated property, designed by HVS Design and Rockville, MD-based Jonathan Nehmer & Associates, will offer an elegant and contemporary design aesthetic with large field graphite tile with glass and silver accents resembling an independent boutique hotel property.
The modernized and enlarged lobby will feature five new seating areas with light, low-profile furnishings and a video lounge, an enclosed gas fireplace, large windows and a conveyor motor lobby escalating to the second level and the District Boardroom, which is a liquid meeting space anchoring the main lobby area with a full storefront glass wall, conference table and 55-in. TV monitor. A water wall is located behind the reception desk and a new wood, steel and glass stairway will serve as a focal point of the lobby.
The hotel’s dining and bar areas are also being transformed. The existing Atrio Café and Atrio Lounge will be reconfigured with the addition of acrylic-topped awnings and an expanded soft-seating area to increase the total dining capacity. Atrio Lounge will also encompass Willies Bar, a new 20-seat lounge with more than 100 top-shelf spirits, wines and local draft and bottled beers in addition to a small-plates menu. Additional lounge seating will overlook the Pavilion atrium.
All guest suites will be overhauled. The new design will focus on a residential feel with calm lighting, natural texture and a color palette of earth tones. Dark chocolate wood exterior doors will be introduced, as well as solid pecan hardwood flooring and modern furnishings with subtle Washington-themed décor throughout the living spaces. Two new premium floors, in partnership with the Embassy Suites brand, will be created featuring suites with 55-in. LG HD televisions, complimentary high-speed Internet, iHome docks, JBL Flip speakers, Keurig coffeemakers and access to the floor’s exclusive refreshment center.
