Educational Institute expands online training opportunities

In 2011, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) developed several programs in online formats, offering convenience, flexibility and interactivity in hospitality training.

Eye on Awareness™—Hotel Security and Anti-Terrorism Training offers hotels a convenient way to increase employee awareness about their role in keeping their properties safe. The online training program is available in either English or Spanish versions.

EI’s Guest Service Gold training program was launched this year as a multimedia program in print and DVD, and recently became available in an online format as well. The program prepares employees to earn the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) designation.

Front Office Manager and General Manager 101 provide online training for individuals who are new to those roles. Front Office Manager’s self-paced, discovery-driven approach puts learners in control as they explore each area of the hotel and click on highlighted objects to learn about each facet of front office operations. GM101 includes case studies, practice sessions and information covering major areas of hotel operations, including property operations, financial management, the guest experience, people management, marketing and sales and food and beverage.

Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) candidates have the option of taking a review session online rather than traveling to a live review. The CHA Online Review offers six modular presentations with 6.5 hours of instructional time, which is 2.5 more hours than the in-person CHA review session.

Other online training programs, previously available to customers only as part of a CourseLine® training package, may now be purchased individually. They include Supervisory Skill Builders Online and four Skills Training Online programs for Front Desk Representative, Guestroom Attendant, Maintenance Employee, and Restaurant Server.
