NEW YORK— Tishman Realty & Construction Co., the developers of The Westin New York at Times, has finalized its deal with Dave Shula to bring the first Shula’s Steak House to New York City. As previously reported by HOTEL BUSINESS®, the restaurant, named after its owner, Don Shula, coach of the Miami Dolphins from 1970 to 1996 and “the winningest coach in football history,” will open in October with The Westin New York at Times Square, which is managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The steakhouse, which includes a lounge/bar area and a private dining room, will be themed after the 1972 Miami Dolphins’ perfect season, the only perfect season in NFL history. The menu, which will feature custom-cut, aged Certified Angus Beef and seafood, will be hand painted on official NFL game footballs. “We are excited to expand into Giants and Jets country,” said Dave Shula, president of Shula’s Steak House. Shula’s Steak Houses, which ranks as one of the top five steakhouses in America, was founded in 1989 in Miami Lakes. The opening of the New York City restaurant brings the number of Shula’s Steak Houses to 16, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Washington, DC and Orlando.
