NATIONAL REPORT—Hospitality tech firm Cvent has acquired Kapow, now making it easier for clients to book events and experiences. Plus, a look at other technology solutions in the hospitality space.

Cvent Acquires Kapow

Cvent Inc., a meetings, events and hospitality technology company, has acquired Kapow, an online platform that allows companies to find and instantly book distinctive venues and curated experiences via a credit card.

Kapow offers more than 10,000 special event venues and experiences that can be booked directly through Kapow’s website. Kapow events can be purchased online with all logistical details organized in advance so organizations can easily book the event and focus their efforts on inviting and engaging attendees. Companies that use Kapow for sales-related events routinely close 20% more deals because of the increased face time delivered through tailored experiences, according to the company. Organizations also use Kapow to book exclusive internal meetings that drive employee engagement.

At its core, Cvent technology gives organizations the power to source, create, and manage live events more efficiently than ever before. Acquiring Kapow enhances Cvent’s ability to deliver world-class live events, according to the company. “By leveraging Cvent’s research and development resources and market reach, we can more quickly add new venues to Kapow’s platform and offer unique event experiences to more organizations than ever before,” said Chris Brown, CEO of Kapow.

 Broadvine University Launched

Broadvine, a business intelligence and analytics software company for the hospitality industry, has launched Broadvine University (BVU).

BVU is an online, persona-based learning management system designed to introduce Broadvine to both property and corporate-level users. “At the property level, BVU will often be a user’s first interaction with Broadvine,” said Lex Raleigh, VP of customer success with the company. “BVU curricula explains how each module works, educates team members on the Broadvine tools they will soon be using and enables them to leverage the full value of our solution. Corporate-level curricula focuses on training for implementation team members and corporate users who will be managing Broadvine modules.”

Following the setup and implementation of the Broadvine application, general managers and their teams are invited to enroll in BVU. Users complete customized, multimedia training coursework at their own pace. Progress and course completion are tracked for each user allowing for reminders when training is incomplete and recognition upon course completion. As enrollment grows, Broadvine plans to offer instructor-led training on topics such as effective budgeting and forecasting.
