CHICAGO—The Cambria Chicago Loop – Theatre District has opened here. Located above the Oriental Theatre at 32 W. Randolph, the hotel sits in the heart of the city’s Loop district. It will be managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
Built in 1926 by Chicago’s famed architects, Rapp and Rapp, 32 W. Randolph was originally constructed as a theatre and Masonic Temple. The theatre, occupying the majority of the building’s first seven stories, was originally designed as a 3,250-seat theatre presenting popular first-run movies and stage shows, with the upper floors formerly used as office space.
“The Oriental Theatre is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks,” says Michael George, founder, president and CEO of Crescent Hotels & Resorts. “We are honored to be able to preserve its cultural significance while also contributing to the city’s booming hotel scene.”
The hotel has 199 guestrooms, two suites—one with an 18-ft. cathedral window that is original to the building. There’s also a game room, a fitness center, and 2,600 sq. ft. of adaptable function space that can be separated into four meeting rooms. Amenities include AV capabilities, valet parking for all guests, and customizable menus. There is also an on-site restaurant, American bistro Social Circle, led by Executive Chef Michael DeMaria.
