Chinese Hotel Market Shows Growth Despite Turmoil in Korea

SHANGHAI—Tourico Holidays reports that despite rising conflict in the Korean peninsula, the Chinese hotel market has shown steady growth.

Inbound hotel room bookings have increased by 106% over the last year. Data found by Tourico also shows that the Chinese are among the biggest travelers in the world. Outbound hotel bookings from the Chinese market grew by 70% in the first 17 weeks of 2017.

The Republic of Korea (+68% YOY in bookings), the United States (+10% YOY) and the United Kingdom (+40% YOY) are among the strongest source markets to China. Emerging markets like India (+160% YOY), the UAE (+212% YOY) and Brazil (+90% YOY) are diversifying the demand.

Tourico has locations in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shenzen, China.
