At least eight bidders have reportedly entered the auction for the $4.3 billion-plus hotels empire put on the block by Granada Compass with most focusing on the 124-property Le Meridien chain.The bidding process is set to be completed by the end of next year’s first quarter. Five trade buyers, including Bass, Hilton, Marriott, Starwood and Accor have thrown their hats into the ring while private equity players Doughty Hanson, Nomura and Blackstone have also shown interest.
