ATLANTA- Bass Hotels & Resorts will be promoting John Sweetwood to the role of president of its Americas division, effective October 1. A five-year veteran of the international lodging/hospitality organization, Sweetwood currently serves as president of Bass Hotels & Resorts Midscale Hotel Group – North America.

In his new post, Sweetwood will be responsible for the management, growth and profitability of the companys largest operating region; a region encompassing a portfolio of more than 2,300 hotels and resorts under the Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites hotel brands across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

The newly created position of president for the Americas division is a combination of Sweetwoods previous responsibilities and those of Thomas Arasi, who serves as president of the firms upscale brands in North America and all brands throughout Latin America. Arasi will be leaving Bass at the end of next month to set up his own company and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities. (9/7/00)
