MEXICO— Barceló Hotels and Resorts reports its four properties in the Yucatan Peninsula escaped serious damage from Hurricane Emily, and all are welcoming guests with full service and amenities. Barceló has two hotels in Cancun: the Barceló Las Perlas, and the Barceló Tucancun Beach. In the Mayan Riviera, it has the Barceló Maya Beach and the Barceló Maya Caribe Beach resorts. The latter properties did experience some minor damage to a small percentage of guestrooms and lost telephone service. Guestrooms that suffered broken windows or doors are being repaired quickly and will not affect the resorts’ ability to accommodate future guests. The hotel group’s new resort under construction along the Mayan Riviera, the Barceló Maya Tropical & Colonial Beach was not seriously affected by the hurricane, and is still on schedule to open later this fall.
