BEND, OR—The Baney Hotel Group, a family-owned and run business started in 1972, plans to break ground here next spring on a 56-room downtown hotel. The Oxford Hotel, which will be located on Minnesota St., is expected to open in fall 2008. “We’re a family business. We have three generations of Baney’s working in our offices today and we all want to do something positive for Bend,” said Baney Hotel Group President Curt Baney. “The Oxford Hotel will reflect, and we think enhance, the existing downtown environment.” The property’s guestrooms are expected to average about 500 square feet and rooms on the upper floors also will have private decks. Guests will also have access to a complete onsite fitness center including a spa and steam room. The lobby will feature the reception desk as well as two lease spaces of approximately 2,000 square feet. Baney Corp. established the Oxford Suites and Oxford Inn and Suites brands, and operates 17 hotels in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California.
