STAMFORD, CT—Tribute Portfolio, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., has added Avenue of the Arts Hotel Costa Mesa, following a multimillion-dollar upgrade.
The 238-room property is located in the city’s corporate and culture center and performing arts district, which is near South Coast Plaza. Owned by Wincome Group, the addition of Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa keeps the brand on track to doubling its growth expectations by its one year anniversary, according to the hotel company.
The renovation was designed and executed by architecture and interior design firm Dianna Wong. In a nod to the high-fashion lifestyle and vibrant arts scene in the Orange County community, each of the guestrooms and suites features luxurious granite bathrooms, hardwood floors and design elements inspired by both the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, according to the design firm.
The overall style of the renovation is based on the arts, referencing local architecture in its design, as well as locally inspired art throughout the hotel. A combination of warm metals juxtaposed against a cooler architectural palette featured touches of gilding, rose gold and polished brass. These details are thoughtfully carried throughout the hotel’s public spaces from chandeliers to furnishings and fixtures. Shades of cream, pearl and dark gray are highlighted in fabrics, paints and flooring.
California-based artist Paul Olson created artwork for the rooms in a theme referencing local roots in architecture, agriculture and performing arts. Working with a monochromatic color scheme, large-scale digital photo murals appear in every guestroom.
The property has seven flexible meeting rooms, totaling 6,800 sq. ft. of space, including an executive boardroom that can accommodate up to 250 banquet guests. The hotel also offers a team of onsite wedding planners and culinary artists.
