NEW YORK— With the 2006 expiration of union contracts in several key cities looming, a leading Wall Street analyst predicts the impact will be minimal. Although there is the possibility of strikes, JP Morgan lodging analyst Harry Curtis believes management can handle such distressed situations with minimal inconvenience to guests. However, there is concern that certain conventions or guests may avoid hotels experiencing labor strikes. The chance of possible strike action became more likely last week when the national hotel workers union, Unite Here, decided to leave the AFL-CIO.
