WASHINGTON The International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show will have its western counterpart in Las Vegas June 21-22, 2001.
The show, which has been long in the making, was borne of an alliance called The New Venture Group, which consists of the American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA), the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc., and the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association. That entity came to terms with the Nevada Hotel & Motel Association and the Nevada Restaurant Association to host the event, which will be combined with the 22nd Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show which will now feature an expanded number of exhibitors and enhanced marketing programs to attract attendees from a broader geographic area.
Finalizing plans that have been in the works since the mid-90s, the five-year contract specifies that the show be governed by a nine-member board of directors and managed by George Little Management, Inc. Similar to the show in New York in November, the Las Vegas show will serve up educational seminars, networking events, major speakers, and an exhibit hall to lodging and restaurant industry suppliers.
“The Venture Group realized the current and consistent value of the Las Vegas show,” said AH&MA Chairman Bob Slater. “All of the parties involved believe they can combine their talents and expertise to expand and develop the show in size, quality, and influence in the hospitality industry.”
George Little Management anticipates 4,000 visitors to the show, which will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The show will comprise 350 exhibitors, and will be contained within 40,000 square feet of the convention center.
