NATIONAL REPORT—Management companies are adding properties in the South. Here’s a look at the hotels changing hands in New Orleans; Houston; and Clemson, SC:

Dimension Adds DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Orleans to Portfolio
Dimension Development Company, a hotel management and investment company, has added the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Orleans to its portfolio of full-service properties. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Orleans has 367 rooms and suites. This downtown New Orleans hotel has a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and 16,000 sq. ft. of meeting space that includes a rooftop ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the downtown skyline, French Quarter and the Mississippi River.

Evolution Hospitality to Manage Boutique Houston Property
Hotel Derek in Houston is now the inaugural Bayou City property in Evolution Hospitality’s portfolio. The private, California-based hotel management company—a subsidiary of Aimbridge Hospitality—has been selected to operate the independently owned Uptown District landmark, which debuted in 2002. The 312-room property has more than 10,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space. Located in one of the city’s business centers and close to the Galleria and River Oaks District, the Derek joins 70 hotels in eight states under the Evolution Hospitality umbrella.

Marshall Hotels & Resorts Assumes Management of Best Western Plus in South Carolina
Marshall Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of the 148-room Best Western Plus University Inn & Conference Center in Clemson, SC. The hotel recently was purchased by Medalist Diversified REIT. Close to Clemson University, the four-story hotel also has 6,200 sq. ft. of conference meeting space, a fitness center and business center. The hotel underwent a renovation and repositioning during 2017-18 to the Best Western Plus brand, including relocating the pool to an outdoor setting, completely renovating the lounge and restaurant and upgrading guestrooms and high-speed internet access.
