NATIONAL REPORT—Hotels across the U.S. are updating amenities, dining options and even rebranding to meet the needs of today’s traveler. Here’s a closer look:
Boutique Boston Property Rebrands
Cicero’s Development Corp. has been selected to renovate The Alise Boston, a 56-room boutique hotel located in Boston’s South End.
Formally known as the Chandler Inn, it was renamed The Alise Boston in the first public step in its re-branding as part of the Seattle-based Staypineapple chain, which purchased the property in February. The hotel will undergo a makeover to its aesthetics, service and amenities. Renovations are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, creating additional value throughout the property for hotel guests.
“Pineapplization” of The Alise Boston by Cicero’s will include renovating the lobby, along with adding new flooring, paint, pineapple wallcoverings, wall sconces, chandeliers and other interior improvements as the hotel receives the signature Staypineapple look. Guestrooms will be furnished with custom platform bed frames, headboards and dressers. No changes are being made to the hotel’s first story facade in a nod to maintaining the historical character of the South End neighborhood.
Renaissance Hotels Opens in Philadelphia, Pays Tribute to Culture
Renaissance Hotels with The Buccini/Pollin Group has opened the Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel following a multimillion-dollar renovation, the brand’s third in the city.
Campion Platt designed the 152-room hotel, which pays homage to the cultural history of the city. For F&B options, there’s Chez Ben Restaurant, a French bistro and M. Brown’s, a retro-contemporary cocktail bar. In addition, there’s pop-art inspired images of notable Philadelphians in the guestrooms.
Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool and sauna and four meeting rooms, 4,354 sq. ft. of meeting and social space. The hotel is also pet-friendly.
Illinois Hotel Completes First Phase of Renovation
Eaglewood Resort & Spa has completed a renovated, including a new restaurant and outdoor patio. The next phase of the renovation is slated for completion this fall and will have upgrades to the resort’s bedding and event pavilion with the addition of floor-to-ceiling windows.
Eaglewood Resort & Spa is a 104-acre property that includes 295 guestrooms and suites, four dining venues, an 18-hole golf course, fitness center, full service spa, bowling alley and 37,000 sq. ft. of conference and event space.
Located in DuPage County, Itasca is home to several nature sites and entertainment choices. The hotel is also proximate to Mallard Lake, Pirate’s Cove, Churchill Woods, the Elk Grove Historical Museum and more.
Wisconsin Hotel Adds Wellness Amenities
Destination Kohler has completed the expansion at Kohler Waters Spa in Kohler, WI. The hotel’s spa now has 13 new treatment rooms, additional co-ed lounge seating in the pool-side relaxation area, a bridal suite and a health-conscious cafe.
To complement this expansion, Kohler Waters Spa also debuted its annual 2018-2019 menu of services in May, introducing two water-based services: the Thermal Hydro Body Wrap and the Cascading Waterfall Massage.
Country Inn & Suites Updates Hotel Near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Indianapolis East has completed a renovation to its property at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The hotel is also near Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Convention Center. The $1.3-million renovation includes upgrades to the guestrooms, business center, fitness center, veranda and lobby.
The hotel has 93 guestrooms and suites, an on-site fitness center, business center, an outdoor pool and free WiFi. The hotel also offers a flexible meeting space that can accommodate up to 70 guests.
New Jersey Hotel Gets Modern Upgrades
Park Ridge Marriott has updated its guestrooms, suites and meeting and event space with modern amenities.
There are updated outlets and technology ports in the guestrooms and each guest bath now has a stand-up, walk-in shower. All meeting and event space has also been redesigned with floor-to-ceiling windows. With event space totaling 18,000 sq. ft., the hotel’s largest capacity venue offers 8,448 sq. ft. and up to 11 maximum breakout rooms for events of all sizes and types.
The hotel is near MetLife Stadium and the Meadowlands Sports Complex along with shopping options at Bergen Town Center and Woodbury Commons.
