BOSTON—Shawmut Design and Construction, a $968-million construction management firm, has promoted John Tobin to director of hotels. In his new role, Tobin will continue to build on the division’s exponential growth and bolster the firm’s market expansion plans.
As director of hotels, Tobin will be responsible for growing Shawmut’s market share while delivering topnotch client service. A key member of the leadership team since 2008, Tobin has cultivated and maintained relationships with some of Shawmut’s most prestigious clients, including Le Bernardin and The New York Palace Hotel, according to the company.

Tobin’s promotion comes on the heels of the hotels division’s 246% growth over the past three years, and a projected overall 1,000% growth by the end of 2015. The team will continue to focus on complex luxury hotel renovation projects.
Most recently, Shawmut has completed Chevalier at the Baccarat Hotel in New York, the lobby and Little Park restaurant at the Smyth Hotel in New York and multiple renovation projects at the New York Hilton, Sheraton Boston Hotel as well as the Boston, Brooklyn, and Newport Marriott Hotels.
