MICROS to be Acquired by Oracle

COLUMBIA, MD—MICROS, based here, has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Oracle.

The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2014. Oracle and MICROS will continue to operate independently until the proposed transaction closes.

MICROS offers software, hardware and related services in addition to cloud solutions to manage hotels, F&B operations and retailers. MICROS’ technologies are built and serviced by 6,000 employees and are in use across 330,000 customer sites in 180 countries.

Oracle offers products throughout an integrated stack of hardware and software designed and engineered to work together in the cloud and data center. More than 400,000 customers in more than 145 countries use oracle’s cloud-based and on-site solutions.
